10 Basic Steps to Restoring your Classic Car


So you have acquired your favorite classic beauty - only problem is that your captivating car it is a bit rough around the edges and you quickly realize that this restoration project is not as simple as you originally thought. Before you hide it under a cover in a back lot somewhere, remember that nothing great ever comes easy. Be realistic, A complete restoration takes time so be prepared and be patient.
Like any challenging job, break the restoration into steps. Talk to others who have taken on a restoration job so you can determine which steps you can do yourself and which you will have  to get help with. Hang up photos of what you want your finished car to look like for inspiration and don't forget to snap a few before shots so you can take pride in what you have accomplished!
 






























1. Media blast or sand

2. Disassemble

3. Create your parts replacement list-research prices

4. Cut out any rusted panels and replace with new metal

5. Brush or spray with porcelein-like paint to prevent re-rusting

6. Do any bodywork

7. Paint

8. Do any mechanical work

9. Do glass and upholstery

10. Now install your wheels and tires and take car to an alignemt shop

If you decide on a complete restoration with us, we will take $20/Hr off our normal $70/Hr labor rate. Now if that isn't an incentive, I don't know what is....
If you are not ready for the complete job, or have another auto problem - for example, maybe you want a transmission or something else done, we will give you $10/Hr off a partial restoration or any automotive service performed.
